Giving God the Glory

"From him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.” - Romans 11:36

Have you ever created something from scratch and then glowed with delight as a result of your accomplishment? The truth is that there's not one person in the whole universe who can take the sole credit for personal achievements. The Bible says it best, “From him and through him and to him are all things." - Romans 11:36

Because God is the Creator of the universe, He has equipped each of us with everything needed to function in life. In reality, we should never take the credit because everything we have (talents, gifts, personality, looks, intelligence, etc.) has been given by God. We are blessed because He chose to bless us, just as we are living because He chose to breathe life into us.

Keeping a humble heart and giving the credit and praise to God is the key to glorifying Him in all situations. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” - Matthew 18:3-4

So how do I praise God and give Him the credit He deserves? Fortunately the Bible has lots of instruction for me there too!

PRAISE HIM

“Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” - Psalm 145:3

WORSHIP HIM
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care.” - Psalm 95:6-7

THANK HIM
“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9

SHARE HIM
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12

SERVE HIM
“It was [Christ] who gave [gifts], to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God.” - Ephesians 4:11-13

CREDIT HIM
“I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us—yes, the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses.” - Isaiah 63:7

TRUST HIM
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.” - Psalm 28:7

Lord, Forgive me for the times I have taken the credit when I should have given the credit to You. Help me to walk in humbleness so that only You are glorified. Make me an instrument that brings You an orchestra of praise! Amen.
