New Year's Day

Well, here it is, New Year's Day. So far I have become totally overwhelmed as I sought to assemble a simple basketball hoop & stand for my son. It came with over 66 parts, requires saw horses and "scrap lumber" to assemble ---- and the directions say "serious personal or property injury can occur if assembled with less than two adults."

I started to take the inventory of the 66 parts, and finally grew tired of trying to find pictures in the book that matched the pieces I had. This was especially trying when the directions noted that "not all parts are used for every model!" I think this will have to wait for another day, when perhaps I can get an engineer friend of mine to help me sort this mess out!

From the basketball hoop, I sauntered indoors to look at the parade on TV. The sound is out on our set. Nearly two hours later, I have set and re-set the TV, the cable box, the VCR, etc. I've been on hold with the cable company and they've remotely re-set the cable box. The service is good, and the problem has been determined to be in our set.

So it looks like we're getting a new TV this week. I imagine that maybe we're the only people we know who have just one TV. Maybe we'll get a fancier one this time, instead of the Wal Mart special entry-level TV that we've been watching for years.

I do hope that this New Year's Day isn't an indication of how my New Year will be. It has been a rather unproductive and unfruitful day for me!
